All Wales Medical Genomics Service Clinical Genetics Services Relocating to Cardiff Edge Life Science Park: A New Era for Genomic Medicine in Wales 

 Welsh healthcare is on the brink of an exciting transformation as the All-Wales Medical Genomics Service (AWMGS) clinical services prepare for their big move to a new £15.3m state-of-the-art genomics facility Cardiff Edge Life Science Park in the Welsh capital on November 6, 2023.  

The new facility, Canolfan Iechyd Genomig Cymru/ Wales Genomic Health Centre located at CD1 Longwood Drive, Cardiff, CF14 7YU, will co-locate AWMGS with the Pathogen Genomics Unit (PenGU) which is part of Public Health Wales’ Microbiology Services and the Wales Gene Park, hosted by Cardiff University, adhering with Genomics Partnership Wales’ vision, “working together to harness the potential of genomics to improve the health, wealth and prosperity of the people of Wales”.  

 This strategic positioning aims to create a hub of innovation and collaboration in genomics and healthcare.

 Cutting-Edge Genomic Medicine Facility - The relocation will usher in a state-of-the-art genomic medicine facility, equipped with the latest technologies and resources. This upgrade promises improved patient care and enhanced capabilities in genomic research.

Please note that the AWMGS Laboratory team will continue to operate from UHW until further notice, please continue to submit laboratory samples to the current address. This team will then be relocating in phase 2 of the project – details of this will be provided at a later date.
