Guidance to the All Wales Genetics Laboratory genetic testing provision in response to COVID-19.
As you know the COVID-19 outbreak has now escalated to become a national pandemic and this is having an impact on the services we provide, and will continue to do so over the coming weeks/months.
It is important for you to understand that whilst we are maintaining current testing provision the genomic laboratory capacity will change over time as we release more staff to support COVID-19 work in other departments where needed.
We will continue to update you as genetic services we provide are affected, however, during this period we will ensure the continued delivery of urgent and clinically essential genomic testing.
In addition, we would ask that you contact us prior to sending any specimens from confirmed COVID-19 patients. This is so we can advise if it’s appropriate for the request to be sent to us during this time.
