Urgent cancer results from the All Wales Medical Genomics Service (AWMGS) are now available in the Welsh Clinical Portal (WCP)

Otherwise regarded as a ‘digitised patient record’ adopted by ALL health Boards in Wales, the development of the WCP is enabling clinicians to access cancer genetics reports to identify genetic changes that may direct personalised treatment for patient care.

The type of results include both Haemato-Oncology and Solid Tumour Genomic reports. Currently there are 41 different tests being uploaded and examples include Lung Cancer,  Melanoma, AML and Ovarian cancer gene analysis.

- Results will appear in Welsh Clinical Portal Patient Record under the “Test” tab, alongside pathology and radiology results.

- In addition to making these tests results available in WCP, paper results will also continue.

- Historic results will not be digitised and uploaded to the WCP.

Laurence James, Programme Manager for Digital Healthcare Wales has confirmed since implementation, 6000+ reports have been successfully uploaded by the administration team.
"We hope availability of these results electronically will be welcomed. The service will be looking to end users for your feedback in the next few months"
