Implementation of AWMGS new Genomics Laboratory Information Management System

Purpose: GLIMS Go live 30th March
AWMGS is now entering the final stage of preparation for our new GLIMS to go-live on 30th March. The new GLIMS will provide a modern, sustainable and interoperable system that will enhance our service throughout and improve the quality and efficiency of care provided to patients.
Current status:
As of 23rd March 2026, we will be entering the transition period from our existing LIMS to the new GLIMS. This will be a critical period for AWMGS internally. Please be assured that patient safety remains the highest priority for AWMGS and at the core of planning and decision making.
Transition period:
During this time, urgent and prenatal referrals will continue to be prioritised. While we endeavour to reduce the impact of this transition on our service users, there exists a risk that routine reports may be delayed. Please be assured that we are doing everything we can in our power to prevent delays to reporting results, where possible.
We will continue to actively monitor the situation, taking a risk-based approach to manage the transition period, prioritising patient care and service delivery, with updates posted on this page.  Further communications may be issued via email or letter to you directly if there are significant updates that impact a particular service.

At this time, no action is required other than to continue to provide your support and understanding during this period. Please continue to inform us by email of urgent sample requests, in advance so that we can manage these proactively.
