Service delivery process
If you are utilising a pre-existing process with the Health Courier Service (HCS), please ensure that the address is as specified above.

Please noteThe samples delivered utilising pre-existing HCS process, will be delivered to CIGC via the UHW Post Room. A HCS schedule has been set up to support this.  Please consider the potential risk of extended delivery times, as there will be an additional transport time from UHW to CIGC.

It is the responsibility of the referring department to arrange/manage changes to URGENT samples delivery direct to CIGC.

If you are utilising a private courier service/royal mail to deliver directly to CIGC, please ensure   you use the new address provided above.

Signage will be present to redirect any accidental sample deliveries that arrive at IMG Reception after it is vacated at 5pm on 13th December. Deliveries will be redirected to UHW Main Pathology Reception, where they will be collected by the HCS and transported to CIGC. If you are a referring department from UHW, for further details on sample transport between UHW & CIGC please click here

Samples delviered to the incorrect location could result in delays in sample delivery to CIGC. It is the resonsibility of the referring departments to ensure that samples reach CIGC in the required time period and appropriately packaged for transport.

While we are not anticipating this change to cause significant delays, please note, it is the referring department’s decision whether they wish to utilise this supporting service.
If there are critically urgent samplesit is the referring departments responsibility to ensure samples reach CIGC within the required time period. This may require departments to arrange for their own urgent sample transport to CIGC. The AWMGS receives samples by taxi and commercial couriers in these situations.

Referring Department’s Responsibilities
Please ensure that your delivery pathway/process is ready to be updated as of the 16th December for samples to be delivered to the new facility, CIGC at Cardiff Edge business park.

Important: Up until 5pm on Friday the 13th December 2024, samples will still be received at IMG Reception, as per normal, please do not send samples to CIGC before the 16th December.

We look forward to being able to continue to provide and expand high quality, patient focussed genomic testing services to NHS Wales from CIGC into the future,
